1984 - 76,000 miles/123,540km - €32,490

Harry Alexander Classic Cars is pleased to offer for sale an extremely rare and collectable, high specification, restored 'In VOGUE' Range Rover Classic.

An extremely rare opportunity to own a highly collectable and prized ‘In Vogue’ 3.5 V8 in stunning Derwent Blue with matching grey coachlines.

With only 325 built, this is a rare edition of a rare edition as it also benefits from Air Conditioning and what was at the time, the very new 5 Speed gearbox.

Comprehensive and demonstrable restoration carried out in 2015 by its last owner before being in our possession. Full body shell respray and engine rebuild, with all photos on file. The interior however preserves its originality and is in very good condition for a car now over 40 years old, notwithstanding minor signs of wear to be expected over this period.

Owner's manual, stamped service book and other supporting paperwork add to the collectability of this example.

After the enormous success of the 1981 ‘in Vogue’ Two Door with its advertising splash courtesy of the glamorous surroundings of Biaritz, this 1983 was the first of these extremely upmarket 4 Door editions of the Range Rover.

The car drives beautifully and I had the pleasure of driving it thoroughly recently in Costa Brava. The rebuilt engine sings. There is no other way to put it. It really sounds fantastic at start up, idle, and most importantly, out on the open road.

The driving videos we have available give some indication of how good this rebuilt carburettor 3.5 V8 sounds. But they really don’t do any justice at all to that unique and addictive carb V8 sound.

It really must be seen and heard to be fully appreciated. Any of our vehicles can be seen by appointment.

The undercarriage as you would expect, is exceptional, as are all panels, wheel arches, engine bay, tailgate, no signs of rust anywhere. As the photos show in the folder at the point of dismantling, no stone was left unturned.

Top of the range features specific to this car:

  • Polished wooden door veneers/cappings

  • Extended carpeting and toolkit cover

  • Lockable cubby box

  • Map pockets on back of seats

  • Stainless steel tailgate capping

  • Air conditioning

  • Derwent Blue metallic paint with grey coachlines

123,540 km, only 76,000 miles after 40 years.

POA - Viewings by appointment in Costa Brava, Spain.

Some literature of these examples from James Taylor’s “Range Rover, the First Generation”:

“The next limited edition Range Rover to bear the “In Vogue” name was announced to the public on 25th August 1983. Promotional activities included an eight page advertisement feature in the September 1983 issue of VOGUE magazine, where the vehicle was linked to the DAKS autumn fashion collection and to one of the collection’s stockists, Simpson’s of Piccadilly. There were just 325 examples of the 1983 In Vogue, all four door models painted in Derwent Blue metallic and carrying grey coachlines with a broad band above a narrower band of the same colour. Some had the new five speed manual gearbox, and a small number were built with air conditioning.“
