Offered for sale and located with us at HAC USA in Austin, Texas is this extremely capable Defender 90 with significant investment and upgrades. 

 

Presented in ‘Heritage’ or Grasmere Green over tan, it is an imposing, purposeful, and handsome example.

 

Featuring a SAITO SDT2 WG Kit upgraded turbo offering 1.2 Bar, greater power and crucially, higher torque at low engine speeds amongst a whole host of other upgrades detailed below, this is no ordinary Tdi Defender.

 

Now with a clean Texas Title but originally from Italy and imported earlier this year, it was a labour of love for its former owner, a Carabinieri officer who homologated all of the upgrades between 2019 and 2024. 

 

The torch was then taken up and carried by classic car collector and automotive photographer Ralph Aiken, a passionate petrolhead living between England and Italy.

 

Under Ralph’s ownership and use of two years, it has benefited from the full new interior bringing a vehicle with already impeccable mechanical credentials the added comfort and style to be enjoyed inside as well as out.

 

With only 115k km or 71k miles in total and with an enormous amount of investment, this is a go anywhere machine equally happy on or off road.

Body, Exterior and interior

 

• The body was totally stripped and resprayed in 2019 in Heritage "Grasmere Green," with the undercarriage finished in Raptor black fine grain paint.

• Features include a bespoke Raptor Engineering aluminium dashboard, military-style sliding glass doors, a Mantec wheel gate, side military wolf snorkel, and LED lighting.

• Exterior protection includes heavy-duty rock sliders, a heavy-duty front bumper with an integrated 12,000 lbs winch, and reinforced rear corners.

• Leather trimmed seating for all passengers. 

• Matching alcantara headlining

• Series Land Rover doors/ military modular models with sliding glass, recessed handles

• Replaced rear door with new sheet metal (original Land Rover)

• Wolf military side mounted snorkel

• 30 mm widened wheel arches

 

Engine and Transmission axles and electrics:

 

• The original 11L engine features a SAITO SDT2 WG upgraded turbo kit, a double core AlliSport intercooler, and an increased flow air filter all fitted in 2023 and homologated.

• Heat wrap for manifolds,

• Thermal blanket for turbo,

• Double core intercooler from “AlliSport” modified LDA pump pin,

• Aluminum coolant and power steering tank, complete silicone water pipes.

• Transmission includes an LT77 gearbox and a LOF Clutches reinforced clutch.

• Both front and rear axles were rebuilt with Ashcroft Transmission components, including pneumatic blocks and 3.5 ratio crown and pinions.

• New Lucas 65 amp alternator, steering box overhauled in 2022

• Centralized and raised axle and engine vent kit

• OSRAM LED rear work light,

Suspension, handling, off roading and towing:

 

• Equipped with Old Man Emu Nitrocharger shock absorbers and reinforced, galvanized chassis mounts.

• Reinforced and galvanized suspension turrets

• Complete polyurethane bushing kit from “SuperPro” blue, high end buffers,

• Rides on heavy-duty 0 offset 8 inch width upgraded Wolf wheels with BFGoodrich LT265/75 R16 KM3 tires.

• Compressed air system with ‘Endless air’ (driven by engine belt and producing more than 200 litres of air per minute) with a 5 litre storage tank and air connection for tyres allowing tyre pressure control from inside the vehicle.

• approved tow bar currently installed with detachable hook with 2 inch QT attachment with integrated 6T recovery point

• Heavy duty front bumper with integrated 12,000 lbs winch, textile cable, 8mm integral sump guard, integrated removable recovery points for driving on road.
